Born in Indonesia, grew up in Singapore, Ben stumbled upon yoga during his jog on the beach while attending University of Hawaii. Everyone was smiling, moving and breathing together; intrigued by it, he started reading up on yoga and practicing. After graduating from college, he moved to Louisville for a job offer in the financial industry. Being physically active has always been part of Ben’s lifestyle and while working out at Louisville Athletic Club, he started practicing Ashtanga Yoga under Donna O’Bryan and Lauren Eirk (Yoga Integrated Science). He also practiced at the Bikram studio in town.
In 2009, job opportunity brought him to Cincinnati where he had to find a new yoga studio to practice at. Comes Modo (Moksha) Yoga where he fell deeply in love with the community, the teachers and the practice itself. The spiritual and strength of Modo, as well as the asana being practiced in the hot room are winning combinations.
Ben has been an integral part of the studio ever since he joined in 2010. He immediately signed up for the Energy Exchange program so that he could practice as much as possible and became the program manager at the Cincinnati location. The next step of his journey was to enroll in the Modo teacher training where he completed Level 1 – 300 hours in Montreal, Oct 2015. Ben is energetic and fun, and he brings that to his classes. Be prepared to sweat and have fun in his class. Like himself, Ben wants his students to have a healthy body, healthy mind and happy life.
“Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” – B.K.S. Iyengar
