Pilar has maintained a consistent yoga practice since 2007. From her first time on the mat something resonated, as she understood that yoga was much more than exercise. She began practicing at Modo Yoga Northern Kentucky when it opened in 2008, taking part in the Energy Exchange work-trade program. Finally, after much study and practice, Pilar completed RYT-200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2011.

Practicing and studying with teachers of various styles of yoga has inspired Pilar’s own teaching. This is what ultimately led her to be certified in Hatha/Vinyasa, seeing it as a way to best draw from all of her influences. In 2013 she went on to complete Modo Yoga’s RYT-500 hour program in Montréal. And in 2015 she attended Modo Flow training in Los Angeles. Pilar is an E-RYT 500 and teaches several types of classes at Modo Greater Cincinnati. She’s known for giving clear instruction and an emphasis on functional alignment, making the practice accessible for all. Pilar is also the Energy Exchange Coordinator for all three studios.

Pilar also holds BA’s in Spanish and Art History, focusing on Mesoamerican and Chicano studies. When not teaching or practicing yoga she can be found reading, studying, painting and drawing, or appreciating art in its various forms. She is a docent at the Contemporary Arts Center in downtown Cincinnati and a weekly participant at Manifest Drawing Center.
